The summers in Moses Lake are hot! To compensate, I purchased a large window unit air conditioner with enough capacity to cool most of the parsonage. I was in my late 20’s and indestructible, or so I thought. I was smart enough not to attempt to lift the AC unit by myself. I leaned a board in place and was going to scoot the AC up the board to its new home.
When some of the guys from the church arrived to take me to the chiropractor, I could not walk. I had to crawl, and that came with no small amount of pain. They placed a foam pad in the back of a pickup truck, and I managed to crawl into the bed of the truck.
The Chiropractor brought out a walker, which allowed me to support my body weight with my arms. I hobbled my way to his treatment room. The guys, who brought me, settled in for an anticipated long wait. Less than 10 minutes later, I walked into the waiting room, unassisted. If God shows reruns in Heaven, I already know the look on the disciples’ faces when Lazarus was raised from the dead. That look was on my friends’ faces.
An amazingly simple and painless procedure had allowed my back to realign and immediately relieved the pain. There was some tenderness for the next few days, but I quickly returned to normal. And it is the same with forgiveness.
Maybe it was intentional and perhaps not, but someone hurt you deeply. The pain from the injury left you unable to move freely about emotionally. Every time you think about it, you are crippled with resentment. There is a simple treatment that will immediately relieve most of the pain, and in a short time, you will be back to emotional freedom. The simple procedure is to forgive!
Paul urged the Colossians, “Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” (Colossians 3:13 NIV) Stop letting a past injury keep you emotionally and spiritually crawling about in pain. Let bygones be bygones. It is a freeing 5-17-20
