Pastor of Preaching & Teaching

Office: 360-679-1585

I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior when I was a teen. A friend had invited me to attend church to help out in a Sunday School attendance drive. At the end of the worship service I asked the Pastor how I could know for sure I would go to Heaven. He had someone show me from the Scriptures how to receive Christ and from that day to this, I have had an assurance of Christ as my Savior and Heaven as my eternal home.
Within a few weeks I sensed a building desire to enter into full time ministry. My church observed me and confirmed the call. Upon graduation from High School, I enrolled in Bible College and I have been in ministry ever since. I was ordained to the ministry by my home church in Texas in 1974. It has been my privilege to be Pastor of Preaching and Teaching at Family Bible since 2005.
Cheryl and I were married in 1973. God has blessed us with two children, Rachel and David, and four grandsons.
Favorite Part of Ministry? - Researching and discussing questions about the Bible.
Favorite Verse? - 1 Corinthians 15:58, "Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm.  Let nothing move you.  Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."

Youth Pastor

Office: 360-679-1585

Growing up in a Christian home prepared me well for embracing God.  As a high schooler I stepped out from under my parents wings and accepted Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.  I went to Central Washington University and prepared to go into full time teaching but after graduating in 1996 I was offered a job as a Jr. High youth director.  I was feeling called to Youth ministry and knew God led me to that position of service in the Church.  I was able to use my teaching degree to substitute and be involved in coaching to help minister to the community.  I moved to Oak Harbor in 2012 to continue my youth ministry call.
I met my wife Carrie in 2007 and we were married one year later.  Through that marriage I acquired a snuggly long haired dachshund named Frankie - one of her best qualities is sweeping the floor with her tail!
Favorite part of ministry? - Getting to have real relationships and be able to watch kids grow in their faith and let God impact the world through them.
Favorite verse? - Isaiah 40:31 But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Children's Ministry Director

Office: 360-679-1585

I am thrilled to be FBC’s Children’s Ministry Director! I love Jesus, I love knowing His Word so I know who he is and how to follow Him, and I love teaching children the Truth of His Word so they too know how to know Jesus and how to follow Him!
I was born and raised in Tacoma, WA, where I became a Christian my senior year of high school. I moved from Tacoma 25 years ago to attend Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA, where I majored in Religion and decided to go into ministry. I moved back east to go to Princeton Theological Seminary, acquiring my MDiv and my husband all at the same time.  After graduation, we moved to southern California where we served in ministry for 18 years. And now I’m back in WA, with the addition of a fabulous husband and 4 amazing boys.
We love being in Oak Harbor! We love the beauty, the calm and peaceful pace of life, the nature to explore, the weather, and Family Bible Church. The first week we came to church here, our boys were very resistant to going to their classes. But when they came out of class, they all said, “I loved it!”, and they are now super excited to come to church every week. As for me, not only do I love the church family here and love my ministry, I also love working with the incredible pastoral staff. They are as genuine as they seem – they walk the walk and live what they teach!

Office Administrator

Office: 360-679-1585

It’s a delight to serve as the Office Administrator at FBC. I was born and raised in a Christian family in southern Wisconsin. I accepted Jesus as my Lord & Savior at the age of nine. My family was very active in the church and I quickly learned the joy of serving. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be involved in full-time ministry and continued in that pursuit by attending Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln, IL. I graduated from college with a BA in Small Group Ministry and went into full-time ministry as a Director of Small Group Ministry.

In 2003, I met my husband Tyler, who was active duty Navy. Together we have lived in Oklahoma City, San Diego, and now Oak Harbor. We have 2 beautiful children and a Cairnoodle.

In October 2017, I was asked to join the staff here at FBC as the Office Administrator. I absolutely love serving the body at FBC. It’s incredibly encouraging to see so many people working together to serve one another, the Oak Harbor community, and beyond.
